Springside Farms

Welcome to Springside Farm! The Drexler family has been making a living from agriculture for over 200 years, with a changing spectrum of both crops and livestock. Our educations and traditions have been the foundation we’ve built on as we take on new opportunities in a changing industry. Our long experience with the land, crops and livestock gives us confidence in our decisions as we work to remain a viable family farm. This is, first of all, a business.

We raise Christmas trees, alpacas, sheep and Holstein cattle, along with various other livestock. We utilize intensive rotational grazing and also harvest our own hay to feed all the animals. We welcome the public to our farm for visits, group educational field trips, our annual Shearing Festival, and especially to the Alpaca Trading Post, our on-farm store for wonderful alpaca clothing, yarn and gifts. We also have a retail Christmas tree lot in the village of Manlius, and a u-cut Christmas tree farm nearby.

Because we are diversified, every month has new activities. Lambs are born in February and March; trees are planted in April. April and May are the shearing months for the alpacas and sheep. The summer is for mowing grass – as hay, as pasture and between the Christmas trees. Fleece has to be sorted and sold, trees need pruning and alpaca crias are born. Fall is a gathering time, as barns are readied for winter and animals brought home from pastures. Thanksgiving comes, and there go the trees, into your homes for Christmas. Before you know it, the lambs are here again, and another year has passed.

Whether you’re here about the alpacas, the Christmas trees, the Shearing Festival or any of our other endeavors, your inquiry is important to us. Please feel free to contact us by email or telephone.
